8. Surgical Treatment
In certain conditions, surgery is the last resort to help deal with and fix snoring in some patients, especially in cases where it has become uncomfortable to them and people around them, such as their spouses.
- Somnoplasty
This is a surgical procedure that uses radiofrequency energy to maximally reduce or cut down on the tissue quantity in the soft palate and also the tongue which may be obstructing airflow.
- Septoplasty
This is a surgical technique that helps to straighten a deviated or a malpositioned nasal septum
- Tonsillectomy
This surgical procedure is done to remove excessive tonsils tissues that maybe be obstructing or falling on the throat thereby reducing airflow and causing snoring.
- Laser-assisted uvulopalatoplasty
This is also called LAUP. It is a surgical procedure done to reduce the tissues of the soft palate and the uvula, thereby improving the free flow of air and curbing snoring (1,5).
