Type 2 diabetes
Insulin resistance is associated to the development of skin tags. Moreover, they can sometimes be a warning indication of underlying insulin difficulties. Skin tags can sometimes be a symptom of a more serious health problem, such as high cholesterol. The exact cause of skin tags in diabetics is unknown. It appears to be associated with the body’s insulin resistance, but further research is needed to be sure. Skin tags are more likely to develop in overweight people. Obesity is associated with diabetes, so this may be another factor in the formation of skin tags.
