Trigger Finger; Causes, Symptoms & Treatment Tips

Trigger Finger

Are There any Complications for the Surgery?

Like any surgery, trigger finger surgery has complications, but their likelihood is low. The main complication of hand surgery is bleeding, which results from injury to blood vessels of the hand. It is usually very mild and your doctor will easily control it.

Another complication is postoperative pain, which is expected in most cases from the surgical manipulation of the muscles and nerves of the hand. It is usually temporary, and your doctor will most probably prescribe an analgesic to help manage the pain.

In addition, you may feel some numbness of your hand following the surgery either as a residual effect from the analgesic or from the above mentioned manipulation. Again, it is temporary and unlikely to remain for more than a few weeks. There is a minor risk of hand injury and infection during the procedure, but advanced techniques and strict asepsis during the surgery made those complications virtually impossible.
