Symptoms of Trigger Finger

Other than the locking of your finger, the main symptom of trigger finger is pain. Pain can be severe enough that it limits your activity. Pain can also radiate to the whole hand. In addition, you may feel a small mass or a “nodule” along your finger usually at your proximal phalanx -where your finger is attached to your palm-. This nodule is usually painful. Trigger finger can occur in more than one digit at the same time.
If your trigger finger is chronic, you may lose the ability to extend your finger even with your other hand. If you have other diseases in your hand like rheumatoid arthritis, you may feel joint pain in other fingers, but it is not related to the trigger finger, rather to the original disease itself.
