Other Diseases That Look Like Trigger Finger

Although trigger finger is by far the most common cause of hand disability and pain in adults, it is also not the only condition, and other conditions resemble it in symptoms including:
- Injury of the flexor tendon: If your palm was injured at the fingers and then locking occurred, it may be due to the laceration acting like a nodule.
- Osteoarthritis: In osteoarthritis, osteophytes may form. Osteophytes are abnormal bone growths that cause locking of the finger the same way a nodule does.
- Ganglion: A ganglion is a sac-like swelling of the sheath that results from chronic inflammation. It can cause finger locking as well.
- Infection: Hand infection is a serious condition. If the flexor sheath is infected, it can cause severe inflammation and limitation of finger movement. The finger becomes hot and very tender to touch. Infection needs urgent surgical treatment.
