Varicose Vein vs Spider Veins
Both diseases are venous-related, but their appearance differs. The spider veins which are usually smaller in diameter and thinner than the varicose veins resemble purple tree branches and are nearer to the surface of the skin when compared to a varicose vein.
Spider veins occur with less pain, in fact with no pains at times, and can be seen at any location on the body, but they are commonly seen at the back of the knee, feet, and on the face in some people, unlike varicose veins that are usually located just on the feet and legs (3).
