What Are The Complications Of Varicose Veins?
Just like every other medical condition, the varicose vein has its complication when not properly managed or poorly treated. These complications are:
- Blood clots: The swelling and soreness in the legs might sometimes be brought on by swollen deep leg veins. Consistent leg discomfort or swelling should be examined by a doctor since these may be symptoms of a blood clot, which can result in thromboembolism, and if not properly cared for sudden death.
- Ulcer: The skin around varicose veins sometimes develop painful ulcers, especially close to the ankles. A skin discoloration generally appears before an ulcer develops. If you believe you have a leg ulcer, consult your doctor right away.
- Bleeding: Veins that are close to the skin can rupture. Even though this typically only results in little bleeding, medical intervention is still necessary (1).
