What Causes Varicose (Spider) Veins?

What Are The Complications Of Varicose Veins?

Just like every other medical condition, the varicose vein has its complication when not properly managed or poorly treated. These complications are:

  • Blood clots: The swelling and soreness in the legs might sometimes be brought on by swollen deep leg veins. Consistent leg discomfort or swelling should be examined by a doctor since these may be symptoms of a blood clot, which can result in thromboembolism, and if not properly cared for sudden death.

  • Ulcer: The skin around varicose veins sometimes develop painful ulcers, especially close to the ankles. A skin discoloration generally appears before an ulcer develops. If you believe you have a leg ulcer, consult your doctor right away.

  • Bleeding: Veins that are close to the skin can rupture. Even though this typically only results in little bleeding, medical intervention is still necessary (1).
