What not to eat with irritable bowel syndrome?
Avoiding some of the foods that can trigger the troublesome symptoms of IBS can cause less bloating, more regularity, and fewer cramp. These include;
- Lactose, which is commonly found in milk, cream cheese, cottage cheese, sour cream and ice cream.
- Certain vegetables like cauliflower, cabbage, broccoli, sauerkraut, coleslaw.
- Fruits containing sugar fructose like apples, pears, watermelon, fruit juice, concentrated fruit, and dried fruit.
- Legumes, or beans containing indigestible saccharides such as baked beans, soybeans, chickpeas, and lentils.
- Sugar substitutes (Polyols) found in sugarless gum and candy-like sorbitol, xylitol, mannitol, maltitol, and isomalt.
