Myth 2. Detoxing your liver makes you lose weight
If you prepared a delicious Caesar salad but got hypertension after eating, you wouldn’t think that all salads increase your blood pressure. Maybe it was this particular salad’s dressing that contained too much sodium.
Similarly, if you follow a liver-healthy diet (commonly addressed as detox diet) and start losing weight, it is not necessarily because a clean liver helps you lose weight. It is because the components of a liver-healthy diet usually have fewer calories. Plus, you will be eating less saturated fat and more fruits and vegetables, so your general health will benefit, not only your liver.
