4. Muscle Twitches

Muscle twitches

Muscle twitches and cramps are the most common signs of magnesium deficiency. In extreme cases, the condition causes seizures or convulsions. Others experience mild tremors alone. According to scientific research, these symptoms depict a great flow of calcium into nerve cells. The muscle nerves get stimulated or hyper-stimulated, when this happens; magnesium supplements are not enough to relieve the persistent seizures and convulsions.

Since twitches in the muscles may be caused by a wide variety of issues in your body. Too much caffeine as well as sustained stress can cause your muscles to strain and result in twitches. You should not assume that all twitches are a sign of lack of magnesium. The twitches may also result from certain medications. Other rare cases of twitches in your muscles are signs of neurological diseases including neuromyotonia (motor neuron) conditions among others. Occasional twitches are normal and do not indicate any underlying problem or risk of disease. If symptoms persist, however, it is wise to seek medical advice from a professional.
