Can I Take a Medication for my Trigger Finger, and Will it be Enough?

There is no role for medications as single treatment options in trigger finger. However, some medications such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs may be useful in managing the pain and inflammation before and during other therapies. Steroids such as dexamethasone, prednisolone, and triamcinolone can be used only as injections inside the tendon sheath, but not as an oral medication.
